Whereas upon deciding whether or not to have your organs donated after death, all citizens of New York will be automatically opted in as an organ donor with the ability to manually opt out,

BE IT ENACTED BY LEGISLATE SENATORS VIRTUALLY ASSEMBLED THAT

Glossary of Terms:

Organ Donor - A person who donates an organ or organs from their body for transplantation.

Section 1. All New Yorkers 16 years old and up are automatically registered as organ donors. This means that should the donor die with organs eligible to be donated, then your organs may be donated to be given to others in need of these lifesaving surgeries.

 

Section 2. All New Yorkers will have the ability to manually opt out as an organ donor online.

 

Section 3. This bill will go into effect beginning January 1, 2022.

Enforcement:

New York Citizens will simply be automatically opted into the state's organ donation program with the ability to manually opt out at any time.

Enactment:

Automatic Organ Donor Bill

will go into effect on

January 1, 2022, 5:00:00 AM

Enacted by the government of New York, the citizens of the state will be auto-enrolled into the state's organ donation program with the ability to manually opt out.
