This bill will prohibit the sale of non-electric vehicles in and install charging stations at regular intervals in the State of Delaware over a gradual period.
BE IT ENACTED BY LEGISLATE SENATORS VIRTUALLY ASSEMBLED THAT
Glossary of Terms:
Electric vehicle: A vehicle that uses one or more electric motors for power and does not use any fossil fuel or harmful materials such as gasoline, propane, or diesel.
Non-electric vehicle: A vehicle powered by fossil fuels such as gasoline, petrol, petroleum, and diesel.
Vehicle: A thing used for transporting people or goods, especially on land, such as a car or truck.
Charging station: A piece of equipment that connects an electric vehicle to a power source, allowing the former to charge.
Metered charging station: A charging station that allows the vehicle owner to purchase charging time for their vehicle.
- All car companies in the State of Delaware will be required to cease the sale of non-electric vehicles over a period of 10 years, and replace them with electric vehicles
- The companies will gradually reduce the amount of non-electric vehicles they sell every year, the reduction consisting of ten percent per year. They will be subsidized by the government in order to maintain electric vehicle sales.
- Metered electric charging stations will be installed using private funds by gas companies. There are about 400 gas stations in the state of Delaware, so the companies should try to install between 30-40 electric charging stations per year to the ten year mark.
If a car company fails to cease their sale of non-electric vehicles, they will be fined 4% of their revenue.
