Whereas some schools have put into place their own type of security systems, firewalls, and antihack software to protect the users in their district, a New York State composed cyber security software system would be more reliable for schools, and easier to maintain throughout the state.

Glossary of Terms:
VPN - Virtual Private Network - A VPN encrypts your data so when you are connected to the internet, a hacker cannot tap into your information via a website or router.
The School Cyber Security Act will target all public school districts by installing a New York State ran antihack software system to protect the teachers, students, and staff. The software would create a VPN that would act as a protection agent between the router system, and the user connected to the router. It will also create an antivirus system that will detect virus, and will attack the virus.
Punishments:
If a school does not follow the contract to install the New York State antihack software system, the school district will not receive state funding anymore.
Enforcement:
All public school districts will have to agree to the bill, and it will become part of the schools contracts for teachers, staff and students. In order to receive state funding for the school district, you must agree to install the New York State regulated antihack software system.
