SENATOR EDEN JUTRAS OR CRANSTON HIGH SCHOOL EAST INTRODUCED THE FOLLOWING BILL.
TO AUTHORIZE THAT ONYCHECTOMY FOR FELINE HOUSE PETS WILL BE ILLEGAL
Whereas onychectomy is unsafe and painful for feline house pets to endure.
Onychectomy shall refer to an operation in which an animal’s claws are surgically
removed by means of amputation of all or part of the end bones of the animal’s toes.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE SENATE OF LITTLE RHODY GIRLS STATE THAT:
feline owners will not be allowed to have an onychectomy procedure done to prevent
behavioral changes and protect the safety of the animal.
It will affect every feline at any age with no exceptions.
The penalty for breaking this law will result in a $500 fine and the feline will be take
from the home.
Veterinarians that perform the procedure will lose their license and will be fined $450.
The bill will go into effect one month after it is passed.
